Introduction to Cipher
Cipher is a revolutionary encrypted messaging application that combines end-to-end encrypted communication with a self-custody cryptocurrency wallet. Your messages. Your keys. Nothing else.
What is Cipher?
Cipher is more than just a messaging app. It's a complete communication and financial sovereignty platform that puts you in control of your data and digital assets. Unlike traditional messaging apps that require phone numbers or emails, Cipher uses a cryptographic seed phrase as your identity, ensuring true anonymity and security.

Integrated Wallet
Self-custody multi-chain wallet for ETH, BTC, TKS and more
Zero Metadata
No phone number, no email, no personal information required
One Seed Phrase
Single BIP-39 seed generates your chat identity and wallet
In-Chat Payments

Why Cipher?
Traditional messaging apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, and even Signal have limitations that compromise your privacy:
- Phone number requirements link your messaging identity to your real-world identity
- Centralized servers create single points of failure and surveillance
- Metadata collection reveals who you talk to, when, and how often
- No financial integration requires separate apps for crypto transactions
Cipher solves all of these problems by building privacy into the foundation of the protocol, not as an afterthought.
How It Works
When you create a Cipher account, you generate a 12-word seed phrase using the BIP-39 standard. This seed phrase:
- Generates your cryptographic identity keys for messaging
- Derives wallet addresses for multiple blockchains
- Can optionally register a human-readable username on-chain
Your seed phrase is the only thing you need to recover your account on any device. Cipher never stores your private keys on any server—they exist only on your device.
